Silk 

• Cleansing Ritual: Dry cleaning is highly recommended to preserve the silk’s protein structure and natural luster. For occasional hand washing, use cold water and a silk-specific, pH-neutral detergent. Gently immerse without rubbing or wringing; silk should be treated as one would fine jewelry.

• Drying Protocol: Do not tumble dry. Instead, place the garment on a clean towel, roll to remove excess moisture, and lay flat to air dry away from direct sunlight, which can cause fading and weaken fibers.

Shantung Silk

A noble fabric with a distinctively crisp hand and irregular texture, shantung silk reflects understated opulence. Its slubbed surface—both visual and tactile—is part of its rare charm and must be cared for accordingly.

• Cleansing Ritual: Professional dry cleaning only. Shantung’s unique weave is highly sensitive to moisture and agitation, and hand washing may alter its texture or cause puckering.

• Drying Protocol: Never machine or air dry post-wash at home, as the structured nature of shantung requires expert handling to maintain its shape. Let your dry cleaner handle all aspects of care.

• Finishing Touch: If needed between wears, use a garment steamer from a safe distance to gently ease creases—never press directly with an iron, as heat and pressure can flatten the slubs and compromise the fabric’s character.

• Storage Considerations: Hang on a wide, padded hanger to preserve its silhouette. Cover with a natural-fiber garment bag and store upright in a cool, dark place to avoid crushing the fabric’s crisp structure. Avoid overcrowding in the wardrobe.

Cotton

A versatile, breathable fabric that becomes softer over time with proper care.

• Washing: Machine wash on a gentle cycle in cold or lukewarm water. Use a mild detergent.
• Drying: Air dry for longevity or tumble dry on low heat to prevent shrinkage.

Wool Crepe

• Freshening Up: Use a fabric steamer to remove wrinkles and refresh the fibers. Avoid excessive ironing.
• Storage: Hang on a padded hanger to maintain shape. Use cedar blocks or lavender sachets to protect against moths.

Linen

• Washing: Hand wash or machine wash on a gentle cycle with cold water. Use mild detergent and avoid bleach.
• Drying: Air dry or tumble dry on low heat to maintain softness. Remove while slightly damp to prevent deep wrinkles.
• Ironing: Iron while damp using medium to high heat for a polished look, or embrace its natural texture for a relaxed elegance.
